A New Specialization on Assessment and Treatment of Difficulties in Mathematics and Dyscalculia
Dr. Orly Rubinsten is the Head of a new specialization program in mathematics which is part of the Learning Disabilities curriculum at the Edmond J. Safra Brain Research Center for the Study of Learning Disabilities and the Faculty of Education, University of Haifa: Specialization on Assessment and Treatment of Difficulties in Mathematics and Dyscalculia.

This program is based on the most innovative and advanced research-based assessment and treatment methodologies. The objective of the program is to encourage students, coping with difficulties in mathematics, to reach their full potential in this matter. The program emphasizes on reestablishing the self-esteem of the students with difficulties. It also provides methods for the participants of this specialization on how to deal with the teachers and parents of the students.

This specialization program is based on the model "Mind, Brain and Education" which refer to the three levels of development:
  • The biological level (brain and genetics) 
  • The cognitive (perception, memory and attention) and emotional (anxiety) level 
  • The behavioral level (the pedagogic system, the family and the society)
